Why this page is allowed to say “unknown”
A status page that checks nothing is worse than no status page at all. It tells you everything is fine without looking, and people believe it — usually at the exact moment something is wrong and they’re least willing to be told otherwise.
So the figures here aren’t asked for when you load the page. The bot sends them outbound on a timer, and every reading arrives carrying the time it was taken. That timestamp is the whole mechanism: the page compares it to now, and past a short window it drops the numbers rather than repeating them.
Which means the failure mode is a shrug, not a lie. Nothing here asks the bot whether it’s awake, either — a process answering that question about itself can never report the one state you came to find out.
If something’s broken right now
The support server is the fastest way to find out whether it’s you or us. Someone there usually knows within a minute.
If the bot is silent in your server specifically, check the FAQ first. An un-entitled server goes quiet on purpose, and a missing channel permission looks identical to an outage.
